Boogeyman!

The 1979 behavioral aberration that select minority shareholders weaponized more than twenty years later to vilify Dave as the Boogeyman

now, for over four decades.

After FNSI, I found fulfillment and healing through periodic five-day mentoring seminars at prisons, reentry organizations, and correctional facilities across the Eastern United States.

For about ten years, I shared my story to demonstrate that life and hope are possible after a felony conviction or incarceration—something many ex-offenders find hard to believe is even possible. Many feel it’s an exercise in futility to even put forth the effort to try.

The stress and intensity of my FNSI years stood in stark contrast to this volunteer work, which was calming, deeply fulfilling, and profoundly moving. It became one of the most transformative chapters of my life, allowing me to connect with and positively influence hundreds, possibly thousands, of young lives.

Helping others realize their potential by sharing my story and experiences brought me a profound sense of purpose—a reward rooted in connection and meaning, beyond the tangible.

The fulfillment that comes from giving your time, wisdom, and personal insights is unmatched. It forges connections that are unique and deeply rewarding.

To expand the reach of my message and leave a lasting impact, I compiled my journey, published a 450-page book and launched a website featuring an overview of the book, videos from interviews, and speaking engagements and truly touching feedback that I received validating that I had changed people’s lives.

The book, a guide to recovering and starting over, includes insights from my aviation career and those at FNSI. Its objective was to inspire those feeling lost or stuck, showing that it’s never too late to rebuild. In fact, some rehabilitation and reentry programs incorporated the book into their pre-release preparation curriculum.

Creating something lasting from my challenges was deeply meaningful.

I received many touching letters of thanks, affirming that my efforts positively influenced lives. This chapter of my life was transformative, helping me heal in ways I never expected.
